8. Sick 🤒

Tuesday was rainy, cold and windy all day from Ohtakari island to Molnviken.

I chose to camp here because the place had a fireplace lean-to I could use for drying up clothes. Unfortunately I had to hide the bike and hike a couple of km through a mosquito infested forest to get there, carrying all equipment.

I was exhausted and shivering when it was time to go to bed, but at 05.30 I woke up feeling much worse and I was out of water and food. Staying hydrated is the most important thing, so I had to pack up, start the hike back, getting more mosquito bites, and then finally start going south again.

I was out of breath when I reached the swedish speaking city of Jakobstad this morning , and it was obvious that I was starting to feel worse and worse. Fever, headache, coughing, no appetite. I decided to check into a hotel where I dozed off most of the day.

I don't want to sleep outside when I'm sick, so I hope I get better soon so I can continue south to Vasa.

Finland is a beautiful country, but some of the architecture is pretty bleak. 😄
