I'm probably doing a lot of mistakes while approaching these dogs, but I'll learn eventually.
Assia is one of the older residents of the shelter, and she shares her cubicle with some kind of jumpy terrier. No one has ever wanted to adopt her, and sadly her mood has changed a lot since the war started. Before the war she used to be a lot more happy and not afraid of any humans.
But a factory building 500 meters to the north of the shelter got bombed in the spring of this year, and also another building to the southwest. Since then Assia has been terrified of a lot of things, especially men, and she was terrified to meet me. But her nervousness dissipated a bit after I got the leash on her, and we started to walk.
She is almost too obedient, and constantly looked at me to make sure that she didn't do anything that could get her in trouble. I also found out that she only likes tiny bits of candy that are normally for the cats, and don't eat anything that is the size of a walnut.
There have been air sirens and bomb alarms twice since I came here, but there haven't been any explosions nearby at all. And I am getting used to the power shortages. Having 3 powerful power banks is a luxury.
Early next week I will hopefully move into an apartment that seems to be a very good deal, not too far away from the shelter.
