10.00: Waking up. Slowly. Today I woke up in Brahestad.
11.00: Eating something light (like a package of yoghurt or whatever I got). Packing up. Planning where to go next.
12.00-16.00, Session 1: Four hours of biking. Usually go a distance of around 60 km during this time (15km/h including stops, 20km/h without). Constantly snacking on trail mix (urgh...) and drinking water. Frequent stops along the way where friendly seniors refill my drinking bottle with their garden hose or kitchen tap while we have a chat.
16.00: Lunch. This is often the biggest meal of the day, and most of the time had at some kind of roadside restaurant. Today I had phad thai in Kalajoki.
17.00, Session 2: This biking session is often the most fun part of the day, where the "second wind" happens. How long it lasts depends on the weather, fatigue, where I want to camp, etc. Today I ended up with a second session of 48 km, on the island of Ohtakari at 19.30.
20.00: Setting up camp.
21.00: Dinner. Usually something dry-freezed where I just need to add water.
02.00-04.00: Falling asleep. Sometimes peacefully.
Today's total was 108 km, which is a little bit more than usual. Ideal is a daily total of 80-90 km, since I'm still in pretty bad shape.
The thick spruce forests and svampy marshes in the north are slowly giving way to curated rows of pine and pastures the further south I go.
