6. A change of plan

Had a chill day exploring Oulu with excellent fish lunch, and then beers with a hospital electrician.

Tonight I made the decision to go the coastal route from here to Helsinki (yellow) instead of the previous plan of going the inland route (orange). Starting tomorrow.

The coastal route will have less protection from the elements, more headwind, and it is longer. The upsides (compared with the forest route) are less mosquitos on the coast, less elevation changes, and easier to navigate (just follow the ocean). I'm also curious about visiting the Swedish speaking region around Vasa.

I will probably regret this decision when I'm biking against the wind for days on end the coming weeks, but bring it on, I'm ready. 🙂👍
