5. Oulu (Uleåborg)

Second and third day were hot and now I look like a tomato. These days also consisted of a lot of highway biking, which was scary but necessary (no other roads). Getting wobbled by a truck going past you in 100 km/h is not something I want to do everyday, but from here on it looks like Finland has excellent bicycle roads to the south.

Second night camp spot at the Gulf of Bothnia. Had a swim and it felt like heaven after a long day. No other person around.

Friendly santa with a 4000 euro electrical bicycle. Helped me navigate for a couple of km near Simo until we parted ways.

Tonight I'm pitching my hammock on the grounds of a sports club on an island near Oulu.

I expected the area to be empty, but they were working late, prepping to arrange the finnish championship in their sport next week. Not gonna say which sport it is, because I don't want any other potential campers to find out about the spot, but thanks to Jouni for letting me stay! 😃🙏
